Job Description
Lead technical oversight of cruise fleet electrical systems, managing maintenance, budgets, PMS optimisation, contractor specifications, and crew training to ensure safe, reliable ship electrical operations.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a global shipping company based in Southampton.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the electrical systems on a managed fleet. The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting operations involving the maintenance of Ship's electrical equipment, facilities and systems including the propulsion and the PMS.
Responsibilities
Support the Fleet Superintendents on all aspects of electrical operation of their respective vessels
Attend vessels regularly to inspect electrical systems and guide crew/vessel electrician where applicable.
Responsible for assessing training requirements, monitor and appraise performance of vessel electrician.
Oversee electrical repairs and regular maintenance on managed fleet and attend work when necessary
Review Planned Maintenance System and modify adjust schedules as required
Prepare monthly electrical condition reports
Overview electrical equipment inventory and propose additional equipment with full justification
Prepare all electrical repair specifications for tendering by Contractors
Evaluate and justify correct tender to submit to Owners for winter repair as well as summer operating budgets
Evaluate repairs and assess/design breakdown prevention methods
Respective field of expertise and assess further if required.
Any other duties as required by the Fleet Manager or the Fleet Director.
Requirements
ETO Certificate of Competency or degree in electrical engineering.
Knowledge of electrical (marine) systems, vessel electrical/instrumentation equipment.
Previous experience as Marine Electrical Engineer in a Technical Department (preferred)
Experience sailing on cruise ships or passenger ships (Highly desirable)
Ability to administer technical and budgetary requirements.
Ability to communicate in English
Computer literate.
