DESIGN SAFETY ENGINEERS

Responsibilities: DESCRIPTION: • To assess the loss prevention and related aspects of the design and for ensure that safety goals are defined and achieved • Preparation of safety philosophy, incorporating safety goals • Production of the overall shutdown philosophy • Participate in plot plan, hazardous area, P&ID and HAZOP reviews • Define the requirements for: -Alarm systems, -Fire and gas detection, -Fire protection • Conduct appropriate safety studies, including risk assessments, consequence analysis, hazard identification and assessment. Qualifications: REQUIREMENTS: • 5-10 years experience • A process or mechanical background with experience of: - Hazardous area classification, -Fire load calculation, -Fire resistance periods, -Safety equipment specification, -HAZOP studies, -HAZAN /consequence analysis/QRA, -Substances hazardous to health, -Environmental protection
