Job Description
Responsibilities:
The 2nd Electrician performs routine maintenance, repair, operation of ships electrical systems. This includes but is not limited to various types of switchboards, generators, motors, lighting systems, electrical deck cargo handling equipment, two and three wire DC systems, and single-phase and polyphase AC systems. Uses common power tools and light machine shop equipment. Assists and participates in the safety testing and maintenance of portable shipboard electrical equipment. Work is performed on all classses of MSC civil service crewed ships.
Qualifications:
2nd Electrician (Critical Rating) - The 2nd Electrician is an unlicensed member of the ship's engine department crew and requires an endorsement of Electrician or qualified member of the engine department of any rating on the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Document. (Salary range: $33,930 to $42,131 plus overtime)
