Staff HW Engineer

Responsibilities: Conducts or participates in the research, design, development, testing and utilization of information processing hardware and/or electrical components, mechanisms, materials, circuitry, processes, and as a minor subset, packaging and cabinetry, for processors and/or storage. Prepares technical and progress reports on assigned projects. Prepares specifications, evaluates vendors, and analyzes test reports. May specialize in one area such as storage systems, printers, etc. Qualifications: Knowledge of ATM and SONET theory and sound understanding of various communication Multiplexor and/or router network engineering design experience; experience with ATM communication equipment; network transition planning and risk assessment experience; security and infosec implementation of optical high speed networks, including multi-level security designs. Understand equipment characteristics, methods of operation, and environmental influences.
