Osmose Marine Products Group manufactures PILE-GARD, a pile protection system that shields timber piles from marine borer damage and steel piles from corrosion by eliminating oxygen exposure.
PILE-GARD is a flexible PVC wrap that is used to encapsulate timber and steel piles, sealing top bottom and vertically to prevent dissolved oxygen from reaching the surface of the pile. The thin sheet of water trapped behind the wrap becomes stagnant within a few hours thereby, eliminating the oxygen needed to sustain marine borers and to promote corrosion. This system has been used since the 1950's when the original system was tested for effectiveness and durability.
