Using intelligent systems, engineers have been able to streamline and automate the production engineering tasks associated with asset management. It is important to note that since no two fields or reservoirs behave exactly alike, there is no standard solution-set that yields optimized production. Some fields already have existing infrastructure consisting of SCADA systems that can be used. Others require a new approach. EPS engineers perform a detailed asset inspection that identifies the problem areas; then they develop well and surface network models that describe optimum results; finally, they implement online systems that monitor and optimize hundreds of critical parameters.
