Airchime MFG Co. Ltd.

Langley, B.C., United StatesUpdated Aug 2002

Airchime Manufacturing Co. Ltd., has been developing, manufacturing, and marketing acoustic signaling products since 1929. Airchime is a world class supplier of sound signaling products to various industrial sectors, including ship and boat building, railway/locomotive, and municipal emergency evacuation. Airchime was founded in 1929, at Vancouver, British Columbia, as a proprietorship with its principal emphasis being the manufacture of steam whistles for locomotives, ships, and factories. In 1948, the founder of the company invented and patented the first air horns which faithfully duplicated the sound of traditional steam locomotive whistles. This was necessitated due to the advent of the diesel locomotive. Airchime was incorporated in 1954. The company’s head office is located at Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The company owns and operates out of a 12,250 sq. ft facility constructed in 1996. Airchime products are also manufactured by licensees in the United States of America and Great Britain. The Airchime facility includes one of the largest anechoic test facilities in the world and employs state-of-the-art acoustical test equipment and instrumentation. Airchime is one of only a few companies in the world capable of original research and development of acoustic signaling products. Airchime manufactures over 150 different models of air, electric, and steam operated horns and whistles. In addition, the company has a complete line of accessory and control equipment available. Innovative product development and technology can be seen in Airchime’s Model KMJ/KM Series with such features as a self-draining design, low psi requirements resulting in energy efficiency, and cast in lightweight marine grade aluminum that provides excellent corrosion resistance. These KMJ Whistles are suitable for small workboat and commercial vessels under 75 meters (246 ft in length). American Marine Corporation is the lead organization in what is now known as the American Marine Services Group. The current companies of American Marine Services Group began to take shape in 1985 with the formation of Pacific Environmental Corporation (PENCO). PENCO was formed in response to growing environmental awareness and legislation. PENCO has grown into a leading provider of emergency marine oil spill response and related environmental services and is currently the primary responder for the State of Hawaii. Continued growth in Hawaii lead to the formation of North Pacific Construction in 1995. North Pacific Construction has undertaken projects throughout the Pacific Basin, specializing in work involving diving, vessel and environmental components. Recent projects include construction of a new seawall on Johnston Island for the Navy and a new marina at Ko'Olina, Hawaii. Recognizing that American Divers, American Workboats, and North Pacific Construction shared many of the same customers and corporate administration, management took a bold step to combine the three operating companies into a single organizayion. During the summer of 1998 American Marine Corporation was formed. AMC continues to provide customers with the level of service they've grown to expect from an American Marine Services Group company, American Marine Corporation is committed to building upon the reputation of its predecessors.
