ASA works to promote the interests of Australian ship owners and operators, ship managers and towage operators.
ASA aims to foster the growth of a cost effective Australian merchant marine. Through its lobbying, research and representative functions, the Association is primarily concerned with the following objectives:
<li>To do everything practicable to increase the competitiveness and quality of operations of owners and operators of Australian controlled international shipping and Australian coastal shipping; and
<li>To act as a focal point of contact for the Australian shipping industry with governments, other sectors of the economy, the trade union movement, international organizations and the community generally.
Our purpose is to preserve the spirit of comradeship among the American Merchant Marine Veterans, and of our fellow seamen who served in the Merchant Marine Fleets of the Nations allied with the United States in World War II. And, to perpetuate the memory of our dead and to assist their widows and help worthy
comrades.
