AerCap signs lease agreements with Ethiopian Airlines for two Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighters, expanding the carrier's cargo capabilities.

In a move to bolster its freighter fleet, AerCap Holdings N.V. has announced the signing of lease agreements with Ethiopian Airlines for two Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighters. The aircraft, dubbed 'The Big Twin', will be the first of its kind to join the Ethiopian Airlines cargo operations. According to the press release, the addition of these new freighters aligns with Ethiopian Airlines' strategy to grow its air cargo business and meet the rising demand for freight transportation. The 777-300ERSF offers increased capacity and range compared to previous freighter models, allowing the carrier to expand its global reach and service. 'We are pleased to announce this agreement with Ethiopian Airlines, one of Africa's leading carriers,' said AerCap CEO Klaus Heinemann. 'This deal demonstrates the continued strong demand for modern, fuel-efficient freighter aircraft as the air cargo market remains robust.' The partnership between AerCap and Ethiopian Airlines underscores the ongoing evolution of the air freight industry, as carriers seek to optimize their fleets and capitalize on emerging market opportunities. This transaction represents a strategic investment by both parties to strengthen their competitive positions in the dynamic global logistics landscape.
