According to the study, BC's maritime gateways move approximately $1.1 billion in goods every single day — a figure that highlights the scale and velocity of cargo flowing through Canada's Pacific corridor. The ports serve as the primary conduit for Canadian exports reaching Asia-Pacific markets, as well as for imports entering the North American supply chain. The Port of Vancouver, operated by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, is Canada's largest and busiest port by tonnage, handling everything from bulk commodities such as grain and potash to containerised consumer goods. The Port of Prince Rupert, situated closer to Asian shipping lanes than any other major North American port, has emerged as a fast-growing container and bulk terminal hub, while Nanaimo serves as a key regional gateway on Vancouver Island.
