## BP Delivers Early at West Nile Delta
BP has achieved a significant upstream milestone in Egypt, bringing a new natural gas well from its West Nile Delta (WND) operations into production approximately two years ahead of the original schedule, according to Offshore Energy. The development adds around 80 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of natural gas to Egypt's domestic supply — a meaningful contribution at a time when the country faces growing energy demand and seeks to stabilize its gas balance.
The West Nile Delta project, located off the Mediterranean coast of northern Egypt near the Nile Delta, has been a cornerstone of BP's upstream portfolio in the region. Accelerating production timelines of this magnitude reflects both strong project execution and the strategic importance BP places on Egyptian gas supply. The vessel will be the only dedicated HVDC installation vessel operating under the Korean flag, underlining the country's ambition to build out its offshore renewable energy infrastructure.
The keel-laying ceremony marks a critical construction milestone, signifying that the vessel's structural assembly is formally underway. HVDC cable-laying vessels are highly specialized assets, capable of handling the large-diameter, high-capacity cables required to transmit power from offshore wind farms over long distances with minimal energy loss. Demand for such vessels has surged globally as governments accelerate offshore wind deployment targets.
The choice of Tersan Shipyard — an established Turkish yard with a track record in complex offshore and specialized vessels — reflects the competitive position Turkish shipbuilding has carved out in the European and Asian offshore energy markets.
