Century Lithium Announces Feasibility Study for Angel Island Lithium Project

By MGN EditorialFebruary 26, 2026 at 01:40 AM

Century Lithium reports an updated feasibility study for its Angel Island lithium project in Nevada, with an after-tax NPV of $4.01 billion and operating costs of $4,389 per tonne of lithium carbonate.

Century Lithium, a Canadian mining company, has announced the results of an updated feasibility study for its Angel Island lithium project located in Nevada. The study highlights the project's strong economic potential, with an after-tax net present value (NPV) of $4.01 billion using an 8% discount rate. According to the press release, the feasibility study also projects an after-tax internal rate of return (IRR) of 27.4% and operating costs of $4,389 per tonne of lithium carbonate produced. The study assumes a lithium carbonate price of $24,000 per tonne and a sodium hydroxide price of $750 per dry metric tonne. 'The results of this updated feasibility study demonstrate the robust economics of the Angel Island lithium project,' said Puru Trivedi, CEO of Century Lithium. 'With an after-tax NPV of over $4 billion and an IRR of 27.4%, this project has the potential to be a significant contributor to Nevada's growing lithium industry and the global transition to electric vehicles.' The Angel Island lithium project is located in Esmeralda County, Nevada, and is expected to produce an average of 30,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent per year over a 40-year mine life. The project is currently in the permitting and development stage, and Century Lithium is working to secure the necessary approvals and financing to move the project forward. The updated feasibility study is an important milestone for the project and underscores the growing importance of domestic lithium production in the United States. As the demand for lithium-ion batteries and electric vehicles continues to rise, projects like Angel Island will play a crucial role in meeting the increasing need for this critical mineral.
