DP World Antwerp Gateway Sets New Container Volume Record

DP World's Antwerp Gateway terminal achieved its highest annual container volume on record in 2025, handling 2,470,700 TEU, an 8.6% increase compared to the previous year. According to Hellenic Shipping News, December 2025 alone saw 224,700 TEU handled at the terminal, 14% more than the same month in 2024 and the second-highest monthly volume on record. The strong performance at DP World Antwerp Gateway reflects the continued growth and importance of the Port of Antwerp, one of Europe's busiest container hubs. 'We are pleased to see such robust growth at our Antwerp terminal, which underscores the strength of the local and regional economies,' said a DP World spokesperson. 'Our investments in infrastructure and technology have allowed us to efficiently handle rising cargo volumes and serve our customers better.' The record volumes come amid broader supply chain disruptions and market volatility impacting the global maritime industry. Factors such as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and force majeure declarations by major LNG suppliers have added significant uncertainty, according to industry reports.
