In a significant milestone for the maritime robotics industry, French company Exail has announced the first commercial deployment of its 9-meter DriX H-9 uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) for civil offshore operations in Europe. According to Offshore Energy, the DriX H-9 USV has been acquired by a European client for use in offshore applications. This marks an important step forward in the adoption of autonomous marine technologies for commercial offshore work. The DriX H-9 is designed for a range of offshore tasks, including hydrographic surveys, environmental monitoring, and offshore asset inspection. With its long endurance, precise navigation, and advanced sensor suite, the USV can perform these missions safely and efficiently without the need for a crewed vessel. 'This first sale of the DriX H-9 to a European client for civil offshore operations is a major milestone for Exail,' said Grégoire Doucelance, Exail's Robotics Business Unit Director, in a statement. 'It demonstrates the maturity of our technology and the trust placed in our solutions by the offshore industry.' The deployment of the DriX H-9 USV aligns with broader industry trends towards greater automation and autonomy in the offshore sector.
