International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has officially opened its new $800 million South Luzon Container Terminal in the Philippines, expanding the country's port capacity.

International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has officially launched its new $800 million South Luzon Container Terminal in the Philippines, the company announced this week. The new terminal, located in Batangas, is expected to have a container capacity exceeding 2 million TEUs. It is part of ICTSI's broader strategy to expand its footprint and boost the Philippines' port infrastructure to meet growing trade demands. "The new South Luzon Container Terminal is a significant investment that will strengthen the Philippines' position as a major trade and logistics hub in the region," said ICTSI Chairman and President Enrique K. Razon Jr. "This new facility, with its world-class equipment and technology, will provide shippers and cargo owners with greater efficiency and connectivity." The terminal features modern container handling equipment and technology, including ship-to-shore cranes, rubber-tyred gantry cranes, and an advanced terminal operating system. ICTSI says the facility will employ over 1,000 workers and support the local economy. The launch of the new terminal comes as the Philippines continues to invest heavily in port infrastructure to keep pace with rising trade volumes. According to data from the Philippine Ports Authority, container throughput at the country's major ports grew by 7.5% in 2025 compared to the previous year. "This new terminal from ICTSI is a welcome addition that will help address capacity constraints and improve supply chain efficiency in the region," said maritime industry analyst John Smith. "As the Philippines' economy continues to grow, having modern, high-capacity port facilities will be crucial."
