India Denies Claims of U.S. Navy Using Its Ports for Iran Operations

By MGN EditorialMarch 5, 2026 at 08:42 PM

India's government refutes allegations that the U.S. Navy has been using Indian ports to conduct military operations against Iran.

In a statement issued on March 4th, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) dismissed reports circulating online that the United States Navy has been using Indian ports to carry out military operations against Iran. The MEA described the claims as 'false and misleading', providing a clear rejection of the allegations. According to the Hellenic Shipping News, the clarification from the Indian government came in response to unsubstantiated rumors that had been spreading on social media and various websites. The MEA stressed that India maintains an independent foreign policy and does not allow its territory to be used for military actions against other countries. 'India's position on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and developments in the Gulf region is clear and consistent. We urge all parties to show restraint and resolve issues peacefully through dialogue,' the MEA statement read. The denial from India's government provides important context around the country's stance on the geopolitical tensions in the region. As a major economy and strategic partner, India has sought to maintain a balanced approach, avoiding getting drawn into the conflict between the U.S. and Iran. This latest rejection of the port usage claims underscores India's commitment to an independent foreign policy.
