Norwegian technology company Kongsberg secures a deal to design and equip four new tankers for Brazilian state oil company Transpetro.

In a significant win for the Norwegian maritime technology firm, Kongsberg has been awarded a contract to fully design and integrate a range of systems for four new tankers being built for Brazilian state oil company Transpetro. According to the announcement from Seatrade Maritime, Kongsberg will provide the complete ship design as well as delivering an integrated package of navigation, automation, and control systems for the vessels. The tankers are being constructed at shipyards in Brazil. 'This contract represents an important milestone for Kongsberg as we continue to expand our presence in the Brazilian market,' said Egil Haugsdal, President of Kongsberg Maritime. 'Our proven track record in delivering advanced, integrated solutions for complex vessel projects was a key factor in securing this deal with Transpetro.'
