Maritime Industry Briefing: Depot Connect Sells Rail Services, Energy Transition Insights

By MGN EditorialFebruary 20, 2026 at 02:00 PM

A roundup of recent maritime industry news, including Depot Connect International's sale of its industrial and rail services, and a new study on global energy transition perspectives.

## Depot Connect International Sells Industrial and Rail Services to Clean Harbors Depot Connect International (DCI) has announced the sale of its industrial and rail services business to Clean Harbors, a leading provider of environmental and industrial services. The move optimizes DCI's portfolio as it focuses on its core operations. 'This transaction allows us to sharpen our strategic focus and devote more resources to our key initiatives,' said DCI's CEO John Smith. 'Clean Harbors' expertise in industrial and rail services makes them an ideal partner to take this business to the next level.' The sale includes DCI's industrial cleaning, waste management, and rail car repair and maintenance services. Clean Harbors plans to integrate these capabilities into its existing environmental and industrial service offerings. ## New Study Offers Insights on Global Energy Transition A new study from the Fondazione Maire research institute, conducted by IPSOS in 2025, provides fresh perspectives on the state of the global energy transition. The study found that India leads the world in public awareness (63%) and perceived commitment to implementing decarbonization strategies (71%). Qatar and Saudi Arabia, two new additions to the survey, also showed strong engagement, with 58% and 53% awareness respectively. 'The IPSOS 2025 study underscores the uneven progress of the global energy transition,' said Fondazione Maire's Director of Research, Maria Gonzalez. 'While some regions are making impressive strides, others are still in the early stages of mobilizing public support and policy action.' The findings highlight the need for continued international cooperation and knowledge-sharing to accelerate the shift to renewable energy and emissions reduction across all major economies.
