Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has ordered three new cruise ships from Fincantieri, securing valuable European shipyard capacity through 2037.
In a significant move for the cruise industry, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has locked in a three-ship newbuild deal with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The agreement covers one new vessel each for the company's Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, with deliveries scheduled between 2036 and 2037.
According to the report from gCaptain, this deal secures valuable European shipyard capacity for NCLH through 2037, a critical advantage in the highly competitive cruise ship construction market. The new vessels will join the company's existing fleet as it continues to expand its global operations.
'This landmark agreement with Fincantieri secures our shipbuilding capacity well into the future and reflects our commitment to investing in the growth of our brands,' said Frank Del Rio, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. 'These innovative, state-of-the-art vessels will elevate the guest experience across our fleet and strengthen our position as a leader in the cruise industry.'
The new ships will be the latest additions to NCLH's diverse portfolio, which includes 28 vessels across its three brands. With this long-term commitment to Fincantieri, the company is positioning itself to meet future demand and capitalize on the expected rebound in the cruise sector as the industry recovers from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This strategic move by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings underscores the importance of securing shipyard capacity in the highly competitive cruise industry. By locking in these orders, the company is ensuring it can continue to grow and modernize its fleet to meet the evolving needs of its customers in the years to come.
