Offshore Oil and Gas Projects Advance in Guyana and Brazil

By MGN EditorialMarch 11, 2026 at 12:34 PM

Major oil companies are making progress on new offshore projects in Guyana and Brazil, signaling continued investment in South American energy production.

The maritime industry is seeing continued activity in offshore oil and gas development in South America, with recent updates on projects in Guyana and Brazil. According to *Offshore Energy*, ABL, a subsidiary of the Oslo-listed consultancy group ABL Group, has landed an assignment at an offshore oil project in Guyana's Stabroek block, which is operated by ExxonMobil Guyana. This marks ABL's involvement in ExxonMobil's seventh oil project in the region, underscoring the ongoing investment and development in Guyana's burgeoning offshore energy sector. Meanwhile, in Brazil, *Offshore Energy* reports that TotalEnergies EP Brasil, a subsidiary of France's TotalEnergies, has brought online an oil project in the Santos Basin, approximately 300 kilometers off the coast. This project, which also involves Spain's Repsol and the UK's Shell, represents the first oil flow from the field, signaling progress in Brazil's offshore developments. The continued activity in Guyana and Brazil's offshore oil and gas projects indicates the maritime industry's focus on expanding energy production in South America to meet global demand. As major international oil companies invest in these projects, the region is poised to play an increasingly important role in the global energy landscape.
