Origis Energy has completed a three-phase, 500 MW solar power complex in West Texas to support Occidental's operations, marking a significant renewable energy milestone for the maritime industry.

Origis Energy, a leading renewable energy and decarbonization platform, has announced the final commissioning and operation of its Swift Air solar power facilities in West Texas. The three-phased, 500 MW DC solar complex was developed in support of Occidental's operations in the region. According to the press release, the Swift Air project represents a major step forward in the maritime industry's transition to renewable energy sources. 'This milestone demonstrates Origis' continued commitment to providing large-scale, reliable renewable power solutions that enable our partners to meet their sustainability goals,' said Johan Vanhee, Chief Commercial & Procurement Officer at Origis Energy. The Swift Air facilities leverage the abundant sunshine in West Texas to generate clean electricity that can be used to power maritime operations, cargo handling equipment, and port infrastructure. This aligns with growing demands from shipping lines, terminal operators, and other maritime stakeholders to reduce their carbon footprints and environmental impact. 'The completion of the Swift Air project is a significant achievement that will have far-reaching benefits for the maritime industry,' said Mary Lantz, Editor-in-Chief of Maritime Insights. 'As the industry continues to prioritize sustainability and emissions reductions, projects like this will play a crucial role in powering the transition to a greener future.'
