The Rockefeller Foundation is expanding its Mission 300 fellowship program to help speed electrification rates in support of the World Bank and African Development Bank's effort to bring power to 300 million Africans by 2030.

In a move to accelerate energy access across Africa, the Rockefeller Foundation has announced plans to expand its Mission 300 fellowship program to at least 18 countries on the continent. The Mission 300 initiative aims to help the World Bank and African Development Bank reach their goal of providing electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030. According to the press release, the Rockefeller Foundation's fellowship program is already providing technical assistance in several countries, including Burundi, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Lesotho, Liberia, and others. 'Expanding access to reliable, affordable electricity is critical to unlocking economic opportunity and improving lives across Africa,' said Rajiv J. Shah, President of the Rockefeller Foundation. 'By growing the Mission 300 fellowship program, we can mobilize more local expertise to support national electrification efforts and help achieve universal access to power by the end of the decade.' In a separate announcement, Chinese power electronics company SINEXCEL reported that its flagship utility-scale Power Conversion Systems (PCS), the StellaON 1250K/1575K, have achieved key European regulatory certifications. This milestone validates the systems' compliance with EN 62477, EN 50549, and EN IEC 61000 standards, paving the way for their use in European renewable energy projects and accelerating the continent's energy transition, according to the company. 'Securing these important certifications is a significant achievement that demonstrates SINEXCEL's commitment to quality and safety standards,' said a company spokesperson. 'As Europe continues its push towards renewable energy, we are proud to offer PCS solutions that meet the region's rigorous requirements.' These developments underscore the maritime industry's role in supporting global sustainability and electrification efforts, whether through infrastructure projects, technology innovations, or workforce development initiatives.
