The project, which takes its name from the port-adjacent character of the Estonian city's evolving business landscape, utilised PENETRON ADMIX — a crystalline waterproofing admixture integrated directly into the concrete mix — to provide long-term protection for below-grade structures exposed to hydrostatic pressure. The technology works by generating insoluble crystals within the concrete matrix when exposed to water, effectively sealing capillary pores and micro-cracks over time.
When fully completed in 2027, the Port Athena complex will comprise a cluster of five modern office buildings featuring retail space on ground floors, representing a significant addition to Tartu's commercial real estate stock.
