TGS Seismic Vessel Juggles Oil & Gas, Offshore Wind Campaigns

By MGN EditorialMarch 6, 2026 at 11:42 AM

Norwegian energy data company TGS is deploying its seismic vessel for a mix of oil & gas and offshore wind projects.

Norwegian energy data and intelligence company TGS is set to deploy its seismic vessel Sanco Swift for a diverse mix of projects in the oil & gas and offshore wind sectors, according to a report from [Offshore Energy](https://www.offshore-energy.biz/one-oil-gas-two-offshore-wind-campaigns-on-schedule-for-tgs-seismic-vessel/). The Sanco Swift will first undertake an oil and gas campaign in the North Sea before shifting to two offshore wind projects in the same region. This highlights the growing importance of renewable energy sources like offshore wind, even for traditionally oil-focused companies like TGS. 'We are pleased to see the Sanco Swift vessel fully utilized with a mix of oil & gas and offshore wind projects,' said Kristian Johansen, CEO of TGS. 'This demonstrates the versatility of our assets and the increasing opportunities we see in the offshore wind market.' The Sanco Swift's first assignment will be a 3D seismic survey for an undisclosed oil and gas client in the Norwegian North Sea. This will be followed by two separate offshore wind site investigation campaigns, also in the North Sea. The ability to pivot between oil & gas and offshore wind projects showcases the adaptability required of maritime service providers as the energy transition gains momentum. Companies like TGS must be able to leverage their existing assets and expertise across a diversifying energy mix.
