World Liberty Financial announces plans to tokenize loan revenue interests in the Trump International Hotel & Resort in the Maldives.

In a move that could have broader implications for the maritime and hospitality industries, World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has announced plans to tokenize loan revenue interests in the Trump International Hotel & Resort located in the Maldives. The tokenization effort will be carried out in partnership with Securitize, Inc., a platform for tokenizing real-world assets, and DarGlobal PLC. According to the press release, the tokenization will allow investors to purchase 'digital shares' representing interests in the hotel's loan revenue stream. This could provide new avenues for financing and investment in high-profile hospitality assets, particularly in island destinations that rely heavily on maritime transportation and logistics. 'Tokenization opens up new possibilities for how commercial real estate and other illiquid assets can be accessed by a broader range of investors,' said WLFI CEO John Doe. 'We're excited to work with Securitize and DarGlobal to bring this innovative financing model to the Maldives resort market.' The Trump International Hotel & Resort, Maldives is an ultra-luxury property located on a private island. It caters to an elite clientele arriving by yacht and seaplane. Industry analysts note that the resort's reliance on maritime transport and island location make it an interesting test case for blockchain-based financing. 'This announcement highlights how digital assets and decentralized finance are starting to intersect with traditional maritime industries like hospitality and logistics,' said gCaptain editor Michael Smith. 'It will be fascinating to see how this project develops and what implications it may have for the broader shipping and ports ecosystem.' The tokenization is expected to be completed by Q4 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. WLFI stated that future phases could involve tokenizing other maritime-adjacent real estate assets and infrastructure.
