Norway-based compressed air systems designer TMC has been awarded a contract to supply marine compressed air systems for two subsea rock installation vessels currently under construction for Van Oord, the Netherlands-headquartered marine contractor, according to Offshore Energy.
The order underscores the continued demand for specialised offshore construction vessels as the energy sector — both conventional and renewable — drives sustained investment in subsea infrastructure. Subsea rock installation vessels play a critical role in pipeline protection, cable burial, and the stabilisation of seabed infrastructure, making them essential assets for offshore wind farm development as well as oil and gas projects.
TMC, which focuses exclusively on compressed air solutions for the marine and offshore industries, will provide systems integral to the vessels' operational capabilities. Compressed air systems aboard offshore construction vessels support a wide range of functions, including instrumentation, control systems, and deck machinery operations — making reliability and efficiency key procurement considerations for owners and operators.
