China Three Gorges Renewables' Rudong offshore wind farm, located in Jiangsu Province, has surpassed 10 billion kWh in cumulative power generation, marking a significant operational milestone for one of Asia's most technically advanced offshore wind projects, according to a PR Newswire release dated August 21, 2026.
The 800 MW facility is notable for being Asia's first offshore wind farm to transmit power to shore using Voltage Source Converter High-Voltage Direct Current (VSC-HVDC) technology — a sophisticated grid connection method that enables efficient long-distance power transmission from offshore installations and is increasingly regarded as a critical enabler for large-scale offshore wind development.
