Wärtsilä and Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy Partner on Sustainability

In a move to drive sustainability efforts across the maritime sector, Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has partnered with the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA) in the United Arab Emirates. According to the announcement from Offshore Energy, the two organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on various initiatives aimed at improving the environmental performance and long-term viability of the maritime industry. The partnership will focus on areas such as training, research, and the development of new technologies. 'This collaboration with Wärtsilä is an important step in our mission to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for maritime excellence and sustainability,' said Capt. Maktoum Al Houqani, Head of Maritime Cluster and Chief Corporate Authority Officer at the Abu Dhabi Maritime. 'By combining our expertise, we can accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions that will reduce the environmental impact of maritime operations.' The agreement builds on Wärtsilä's longstanding commitment to sustainability, which includes developing energy-efficient vessel designs, alternative fuel solutions, and digital technologies to optimize ship performance. The company sees the partnership with ADMA as a valuable opportunity to share its expertise and work alongside industry leaders in the Middle East to advance the sustainability agenda.
